UHS COACH NYE TALKING HOCKEY and WHATEVER ELSE MIGHT HAPPEN

no quitting

Over the pass little while I have been talking about leadership and success. While leaders can  come from anyone who has those special qualities in them and in turn breeds success to those of whom either they coach or play with, it is those people that look at life differently that seem to move a head isn’t it.

People like Scotty Bowman, Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Al Arbor in hockey or Don Shula, Don Landry, Payton Manning, Roger Staubach or Vince Lombardi in football. How about Hall of Famer Michael Jordon or Phil Jackson in basketball. These are all great leaders as coaches or players right, but what made them that way? What made them have the drive to succeed? To accomplish great things in their own sport and in their own life’s?

To me the answer could be, the willingness to change and the willingness to fail. Those two factors would allow them to take a look at the situation their in, to either adjust and learn or to be defeated and to learn from those defeats. But the other major quality of character they all had was to try again and again until they were victorious, the never say quit attitude.

” ONE OF THE MOST COMMON CAUSES OF FAILURE IS THE HABIT OF QUITTING WHEN ONE IS OVERTAKEN BY TEMPORARY DEFEAT.”

Until next time.

See you after the game,
